i think thats the irish skipper expo, its aimed more at the comercial fishermen than anything else.
but im open to correction.

Hi thirty, yeah cobh-skipper is right, more for the commercial fishing industry - lots of fishing gear and engine manufacturers, BIM, etc, the odd charter skipper floating about but they're usually there checking out stuff for their boats... if you're looking for a mile or two of net it would be the right place to go... :roll: :roll:

It can be an interesting day out if your interested in what the inshore commercial boys are up to. There is usually lectures on both days too.

Also usually a good place to go to fiddle with whatever electronic kit is on offer. If you're in the market for a VHF, charts or similar kit, you could get lucky.

To avoid being spotted as an angler, if asked what you fish, immediately put on the poor mouth and complain bitterly and at length about quota restrictions, johnny foreigner, fuel prices, fish prices, bad weather, government red tape, how your wife and kids are starving, etc. In other words, avoid answering the question until the salesman's eyes glaze over. Then ask if they'll take cash. :lol:

You'll soon be surrounded by other commercials, nodding gravely with doleful looks while fingering their wads, if you do it right.

Aye, but if you had to sneak into an agricultural show, say if you only had a wee allotment, you could use the same spiel as above, substituting meat or milk for fish in the above. A quick rant about the new nitrates regulations (or fisheries bill, if you're trying to look like a true commercial fisherman) will show that you're on the cutting edge of the industry and a force to be reckoned with.

The above model is one of two any politician uses. One version is the sob version, the other one is how they're going to change things from a sob story to a glowing success for you if you vote for them. They can play to any sector just by swapping one or two key words.

Spent an interesting hour there today. There is some tackle. Plugs, rubber eels, hooks ( big ) and trolling devices. Would have purchased one of the latter but the stand was mega-busy.

Lots of safety gear, ropes and electronics. All of use and interest to the small boat owner. There really are many many stands.

Some nice boats outside at 'nice' prices. A few applicable to the recreational angler.

Finally for those of you who are not aware, go to McDonaghs for fish and chips. Down by the docks.

was there this morning picked up a fladen 1 pice flotation suit for 120 i think thats a fair price and a vhf radio
