To all the people who expressed interest so far - thanks for your patience, your offers of support and positive attitudes.

We have just had our first enquiry from the UK for membership. This person will also be attending the BASS AGM in March where he will mention that we are a new group evolving slowly and are still at the very early stages of development.

I understand that real life interferes with important things like conservation for all of us, so its going to take time to move forward but we will get there.

Part two of the structure details, which is subject to your input, will be available to you shortly. I know this can be boring stuff but lets get it over with ASAP maybe the end of March?

Best for now
Jim

"I know there are a few closet BASS member about this forum, time to come out, lads. (I'm in that number myself)

Jim's initiative is well worth the support - many hands make light work and all that.

A lot of you have joined the SACN, which is good, some have joined BASS, the MCS, this forum, SAI, SSDNN, your local club, the IFSA. All good.

If every organisation has X members and the secretaries or chairpersons write to politicians and say 'we represent X number of people and we want..."" it all adds up - it doesn't really matter that politicians don't see the crossover in membership, they just add up the numbers and go ""angling lobby groups must be getting to be a powerful group"".

There are more anglers than commercial skippers. And crew. And those involved in the whole seafood industry. And poachers. So why do anglers fail to get recognition? They have so far failed, with the exception of SSDNN, to get organised and as such get a voice. Just my humble opinion. But if you care about angling and/or the environment, get your backsides off your seatboxes and sign up now....."
