Novice question on bait

I have been using rag worm and due to a slight disability with my left hand I have difficulty in putting on the worm. So I'm wondering is there an alternative bait that will catch most species (I only ever catch and release) but is easier to tie on?

If your fishing over sand cover them with a bit of sand it slows them down a bit and makes it easier to manage
