I went down to Duncannon Beach this evening to try dig a few blowlug at lowtide. I've tried a few methods and I can't seem to find the worm, when I do it's usually chopped in half by the spade, although people favour spades over forks at this beach. It would be handy to dig my own bait since beach is a short drive away - can anyone give me advice on how you dig up the burrows?
Thanks in advance

Alright, fork it is! I used that method with a spade with obviously ended with me dicing the worm! Thanks very much, I've heard about using a shovel on the beach so I stuck with that.
Hopefully I can get me a few worms!

Just 1 little tip make an effort to back fill the hole after you finished digging. It don't have to bit manicured just backfill the large bits.Very often you'll find the odd lug or rag you missed.
Too many spot have been destroyed by fools who leave big craters after them and then crib and moan that the place is not digging as good as it was years ago

You can rest assured that I backfill every hole I dig, even when I've attempted to dig worms and fail miserably
I often enough find small white rag when filling it back, a sandeel peeked its head out one time as I scooped sand back in

Whereabouts on the beach do you dig? I know the southern end is the best but would you dig at the base of the beach or near the low water mark?
Thanks
