Any info on species or what way this fishes? Im close by and was looking to head down later for some daylight fishing before I head to my usual mark - Is it rough ground, etc. Any and all info appreciated

The place is stuffed with dogfish as are the rocks at the back of the castle behind the pier

Dabs, dogfish and Whiting. Not worth the bother tbh. I did catch some decent sized congers off it in the early 1990s, but the pier has since been rebuilt, so a lot of the conger lairs are no longer there. Stick to the beaches, at least they throw up some hounds and bass.

Thanks for the info - yeah my beach is just down the road but I went for a visit to the pier - told pretty much the same story by the locals. I did notice massive amounts of crabs and collected some for the beach - got a 56cm bass as a result so not a wasted trip

Dog after dog. Small whiting in abundance. Not much else though.

You would have a better chance of macks off the rocks at the back of the castle further down.
