Planning a trip: Ballyhealy Beach - Your advice needed

Sun Jun 05, 2016 9:35 pm

Well lads, as the holidays have arrived for me, I have a lot of free time on my hands, my da - not so much. Every once in a while we'll grab a few mack and lug from the freezer and head down to our local pier to flatty bash/blank, but we have a long trip to a proper beach planned. We plan to get a lot of bait on our hands and stay the night there, if conditions are good we might even camp there, but we need to plan it out as he can only get certain days off. Bait will be expensive and just getting the pass to go is an effort in itself  What do I have to look for when I'm thinking of fishing this beach, winds, types and stages of tides, bait etc.
We will only have 2 or 3 shots at this and we've been looking forward to it for a while, so if anyone has any advice I'd appreciate it if you could post it here or PM me.
Will this beach be worth it? I'm hoping for a hound or two!

Thanks,
Eavan

Fished Ballyhealy back in august last year, we had Lug, Crab and Mack, we were trying for Bass, we fished flood tide at night in front of big rock, we fished for about 4 hours, only had Doggies but they were decent size.

That was our first time fishing it so not sure if its any goid for much else or not.

Very hard spot to fish its either a feast or a famine and you will need to get the tides 100% spot on or it will be a famine. There are much more easier marks to fish in Wexford
