Killybegs, June BH weekend

Am staying with a friend in Killybegs on the June bank holiday weekend, and would appreciate some info on the local marks, baits etc.

There are two well-known marks nearby, as far as I can see- Fintragh beach and the Gunwell

Fintragh seems to be a good beach/surf mark- would be good if anyone could advise the best tides etc to fish it in, also is there any spot along the beach that fishes better. I guess you want the wind from the south or southwest to get a bit of surf on it? Also advice on best baits would be good.

The Gunwell seems like a very interesting mark, but the reports from here seem to have dried up a couple of years ago- there appears to have been issues with access? I have been looking on google maps, but I can't identify where exactly the mark is - my best guess is the red dot in the photo below? Any info on where this spot is and how to access it would be good.

Other questions:
Where can I get decent bait in the area?
Are there any other decent marks about- maybe some good spinning spots for pollock, wrasse or mackerel.


Not asking much I know! Would very much appreciate some tips, as my local knowledge of the area is so small. PMs welcome of course.

There's a small pier near to Killybegs called Gortalia. Its a good mark for rays, dogs, flatties, wrasse, conger and the odd trout.
Mackerel or sandeels for the rays and dogs, lug for the flatties and rag for the wrasse. A mackerel head dropped over the edge for the conger.

the road in the picture by your red mark leads down to a slip/ dead end, just about room to park the car there, then carefully navigate the barbed wire fence to the right and head over the top, you can fish all along there but youll see one spot thats convenient, you may also see rubbish left by previous anglers
last time i was there i caught loads of macks, can be hit and miss, never had much joy bottom fishing tbh, had some nice mullet there two years ago, i never tried heading left from the slip, you can do this half tide down i think, for 3 or 4 hours, always said i would take a look there cos it seems more rocky, but can never be bothered lol
