Has anyone fished Pilmore recently, am thinking of fishing the estuary tomorrow morning on the incoming tide.
Is it fishing well?
I never fished the area, was wondering if it is better to approach from the Youghal side or the Ballymacoda side? Also info on baits etc. would be good.
PMs welcome

I'd always fish the Youghal side of the estuary behind the gaa pitch at the top of the tide.
Crab is the number 1 bait.
Remember, fish that go up the river also come back down so it is worth sticking around for some of the ebb.
I fished it about a month a go and there was a lot of small coalies there. Hopefully the warmer weather will have pushed them out.
Bring a spinning rod you might get to catch and release one of them silver things,

Also try avoid the bigger tides as the weed can become a pain especially through the warmer months of the year.

Thanks for the tips.
I went to that spot Donal. Must say it looks absolutely perfect I was really excited.Nice current, could see plenty of creases, back eddies etc. Was there the last two hours of the rise. Unfortunately results can be summarised in one word -weed. You would cast out , settle the rod, then the tip would do that slow slow bend down which only means one thing.
I am going to return with the lure gear though, it screams black minnows etc
