Passage East Co. Waterford

As the Easter holidays close in, I ready my gear for some fishing sessions. Anyone been to Passage recently? I've had a snoop around and found that it throws up the usual flatties, cod whting and also dogfish. I've a ton of mack in the freezer, will that be enough? I've received a few PMs about the area but I'd like to make it public. What tides are best and is it worth fishing in the day? Should I fish on the jetty near the strand or on the strand? I can't cast very far so I'd rather fish the jetty.

Sorry for so many questions but I need to get more knowledge on my area fishing-wise. Thanks in advance!

Passage always fishes during the day because the water is filthy dirty. That's the beauty of fishing in estuaries...

I'll leave it to others to report on how its fishing these days, long time since I was down there...

Opposite the big tree in the park in direction of arthurstown from the stone style jetty is decent for flats but can be plagued with eels ,Casting from the jetty at pier use a slightly heavier grip lead to battle stronger currents as its quiet deep outside the harbour with fast flowing water ,Dont be worried about distance casting 20/30 feet is perfect ..I have found rag works well in the estuary but mack should do well for most species for you just re bait regularly to be effective

If you head up the strand in the direction of woodstown almost opposite duncannon is a breakwater which throws up cod ,bass, whiting

i fished it a few weeks ago...had a hard time finding fresh lug which is a good bait for passage, so we ended up with frozen squid,razor,black lug and frozen prawns...all bar the black lug and fresh lug failed to interest anything.we only caught 2 very small codling, a whiting and 2 rockling ..all small .But if you're looking to catch a doggy frozen mackeral at passage should do the trick...providing there's not too much fresh water going down the channel. We fish in the channel down from the pier and you dont need a big cast to get into deep water there...hope this helps!

very strong tide here either bring heavy weights or hit it at low or high a 4oz grip weight can be easily pushed around with the speed the water flows here

@Teegerstk Have you tried? Whats result? I miss fishing and planning my trip, and therefore want to know more about results
