First up, the SL30SH is a great reel for the rocks. Easy to use, solid and reliable.
Theory is, that you can use a multiplier on a rod rung for a fixed spool, but you shouldn't use a fixed spool on a multiplier rod.
The multiplier rod usually has 8 rings and the fixed spool 6 depending on the brand, rod length etc. The difference is that you hold the rod upside-down for a multiplier - ie reel in with the rings on the spine of the rod on top.
Also that the first ring on a fixed spool rod is bigger to allow free flow of line from the spool.
