Kells Bay, Co. Kerry.

It's about 10 years since I fished here. I think there's some easy to access rock marks way off to the right hand side of the pier.
I'm near there with work this Thursday...just wondering is it still worth fishing...think I had dogfish and pollack there before.
I'll have a non-angler with me...do mackerel ever show up there ? Any info greatly appreciated.

Yes there's safe access to the rocks on the right hand side although at high water you might as well try the end of the pier. There's a small road (no idea the condition now) that led down to a small mini-cove and you could scramble over the rocks from there. Probably some nice wrasse fishing straight down with bait for the non-angler - they always delight in the sheer size power and colours of wrasse. Just bring shirring elastic and use the local mussels and limpet, maybe a small tough knife too...

Thanks for the quick reply Kieran...do mackerel still show up there ?
I think it was a kid back in the late 70's/early 80's that I used to catch plenty there.

No idea, assume so but they've been very slow to show up on the shore in Mayo... so maybe someone in Kerry will give you better local info...
