Dear Jellybait,
the reason that I "thanked" rather than giving you a load of BS INFO is because I haven't a clue on the up to date smoothie news from the east coast! You say in your post that you have put in "2" sessions chasing them without catching anything other than pups[target achieved].Time, money arranging babysitters etc and wasted effort go hand in hand unfortunately with fishing ,if myself and my friends counted up all our wasted effort we would all be playing golf and be millionaires.
I totally agree with what Shane says 100% and if more anglers actually put in more time and effort in finding areas that are fishing well or even have previous history then there would a lot more accurate info out there due to numbers fishing on the beaches. But unfortunately these days lots of so called anglers depend on a small dedicated few who put in the hours of hardship to then tell the world .If people expect red hot fishing every time they go out then they are very much deluded and should take up stocky bashing in a lake where fish are 100% in situ.
I do feel sorry for the people who live far away from the coast as much time and effort goes into organising a trip or two but to the other armchair fisher people[not related to anglers] living close to the coast who depend on others to do the legwork for them and then jump on the bandwagon when "word" gets out then no sympathy at all.
People go fishing for many different reasons,i for one enjoy the outing for what it is ,catching is a bonus and catching a decent fish is an outing to be celebrated.
I know after writing this post that I am going to be totally slated and so be it but nothing I have said is untrue and for what its worth im heading out fishing again tonight, will I catch anything special[id doubt it],but as Ive said before everyone has reasons for going fishing and a lot of the time its not always about catching fish!

Frozen crab not really doing much lately, fresh defo better with rag second best, rag taking pups and pup tope mostly keep at it, did you ever try as far as rosslare or round Kilmore quay area?
You should!
Sometimes thinking outside the box helps, fishing the drop instead of the rise!
Targeting a different species normally throws up a total surprise too lol

Yes , got some fresh crab this weekend and tried closer to home , just reeling the last rod in and bang , 5lb smoothie ,then my friend had another 4lb approx fished on for another few hours with no joy - got them an hour on the drop of the tide too!ill be down south wexford for the next two weeks so ill try not be to distracted by the bass ,I've had endless amount of smoothies out in my boat but it was my first from the shore ,much better fight !!

Getting a nice few around arklow. Had a specimen 9lb last weekend. I have couple reports up have a look. I'm finding rag is working better at the moment for them.
