It is very handy to actually see the state of the sea before we head out. Only if there could be a web cam for the East coast and we would be laughing
Lahinch

Donegal

Tramore

There is another one at Strandhill -

You be surprised how handy they can be.

I always take the precaution of checking out Lahinch surf shop's website before heading down that direction for a days fishing. They take a picture of the surf every day, and generally comment on how the surf will be over the following days. They also give the water temperature which is very useful. It can save on a long, wasted journey!
These are dead handy to have Robert, fair play to ya.

this one covers west strand at Portrush
http://www.westbaysurfboards.co.uk/westpic/
generally gives a good idea of what the north coast beaches are up to. Portballintrae is normally bigger as is white rocks, No real "surf" to speak off around east strand unless theres a good swell running (10ft+ @over 12secs)
http://www.magicseaweed.co.uk is very very good for swell predictions and wind directions
hope no surfers check the site lol
