Multiplier Reel on fixed spool rod?

Any problem doing this ?

I'm thinking of getting a multiplier reel for next winter's fishing. Have had a very strong recommendation of the TronixPro envoy as a good beginner's multi.

However both my beach casters are rung for fixed spool - is this a deal breaker?

You can get the rod re rung for multiplier. Get a second hand Abu 6500 mag multiplier. You should pay about €60 for a good 1. Will last you for years if you look after it.

I have to agree with cod chaser,abu's are bullet proof to me even when my 525 or sloshy20 are acting up,she rarely lets me down...cant praise abu's enough.

Because the eyes will be pointing up there will not be enough of them on the top section to take the curve on the rod and you might find that the line is going under the curve on the rod.

The best thing to do is to tie about 20' of line onto the reel seat and run it up the eyes. Hang about a kg off the end of the line and see what way it lies through the eyes.

Donal, I'll try that- however what do you mean by the line going under the curve of the rod ? If I hung a weight off the line would it not just hang straight down off the tip ring ?
