Hey guys! I've recently started using ultima F1 for shore fishing and I'm not too impressed with it.. Leader knot strength is pretty poor and I'm getting overruns with it aswell.. Not happened before.
What are your favourite lines to use?

Surprised Brian that you are having diffs with F1 as I find it an excellent all rounder, perhaps you might try Daiwa Tournament as it has great knot strength and abrasion resistance qualities.

F1 is like marmite ,some people love and others just totally hate[don't trust] it,im in the later camp.Yes the daiwa tournament is a quality line as are the likes of suffix tritanium/rovex 12X,for shear durability and no frills the daiwa sensors and Berkley big game /trilenes are hard to beat .These lines are a bit thicker in comparison to the initial lines mentioned but that's where the durability comes into play.
To give you an example myself and a few of my friends have no issues using the 12lb Berkley[.34mm] or 15lb [.35mm] tritanium on most of the venues down here in east cork. These are lines used on multipliers but if referring to fixed spool stuff that's another story.

Sakuma nite crystal is pretty bomb proof, it behaves really well on a multiplier. It's available in high viz or in clear. I use it all the time and never had an ounce of bother with it

Thanks for that lads. Yeah I had been using the tritanium the last couple seasons. I'll try the Sakuma I think and see how that goes. Had two blow ups this evening casting and one the night before. Costing me a fortune this craic!

+1 for Daiwa Tournament.I did a good bit of fishing in Monkstown this winter passed and your line needs to be decent to survive there!

I think I found the issue with the birdsnests anyway! Bought a new 525mag2 and a free spool of line which was f1 again as the shop didn't stock any Sakuma or diawa tournament so I took the 18lb spool at .35 mm instead of the 15lb .32mm and have no problems since. Maybe the lighter line had something to do with it

Hi I also fish with a 525 mag 2 & a 515 mag 2. Also use the .35mm line & I find if you set the mag brakes half way seems to work fine. I do get a few nest from time to time but still love the reels.

Very smooth I found compared to the old ones and the mag brakes have a lot more affect on the spool. Have to save for another!!

Also the left to right movement on the spool I find that once you can feel the spool moving left to right & not see it works fine.

They are a joy to use to be fair and don't look half bad either!
