i did think about it but the ray was too long out of the water by the time I found it
We went rock pooling to a island and we were on one side of the island and crossing over to the other we I seen it flap in the mud,it was probably 2 hrs in the mud,the tide went out so fast he got caught out,it was about 5feet above the low water mark
Brought it down to the water and it took a good while to recover before it started swimming
The second ray was not as long out of the water maybe 10 or 15 mins

the colour and shape looked slightly different to most of the thornbacks I seen before but you could clearly see the thorns along the top of its tail, some of the other types of ray might be hard to id

Most if not all ray species have thorns on there tails so its not the best way to identify a ray
