Im off to Ennis this weekend and am going to try get out for a few hours probably Lahinch. Is there any point fishing Lahinch at this time of year. Secondly anywhere to pick up bait around that area?

Ah Lahinch, once a bass mecca and where I learned from fish...

Three marks on Lahinch, one under the prom out from a big round boulder on the margin of the rocks on the left hand side. Small fish baits and crab work really well here, best on a rising tide casting just shy of the actual rocks themselves. Fairly clean ground.

One stretching from the end of the old "high" prom out to the end of the new prom (or whats left of it after that storm) - pure storm beach fishing where razor with something seems to work really well, also done well with sandeel here, and

the one at the very far end at the mouth of the estuary and notable NOT in the estuary itself where there is quicksand, where lugworm is king. This uses to host big heavy mullet, sea trout and the odd salmon, but only the mullet remain.

Flounder, the odd plaice, whiting on calm nights, weavers, and once upon a time, lots of bass. I was told that the beach is making a bit of a comeback thanks to the efforts of locals in persuading a Liscannor trawlerman to stay off the beach with nets...

In terms of bait, you can works on the beach stretching towards the river from Liscannor harbour but not easily. Mostly blow lug with the odd decent one and small white ragworm. The big issue is that you need to fish into darkness owing to all the surfers...
