Blackhead

How do i get to blackhead from whitehead, the place between carrickfergus and portmuck.

If you are coming from Armagh, take the M1 into Belfast, get onto the M2 via westlink, get onto M5 and follow signs for Carrickfergus. Go through Carrickfergus and take the road toward Larne. Turn off for Whitehead when you see the signs, the map below should guide you in from there.

I was told I must park somewhere then walk to blackhead or can a park near the point.

David. Park in the carpark closest to the head and walk round. About 15mins or so depending on where you want to fish. Some deep water round there. should be pollack wrasse coalies whiting. good luck geo.

david...if u try the first set of flat rocks after you walk pass the 2 caves you should pick up dogs, conger, coalies and rather large pouting...but be careful cause the hss flys outta the lough at blackhead and makes v big waves

Have you fished it k2 what rod did you use and was it safe heard locals abit ruff. i didnt say that just heard so dont jum all over me lads. girl in work from whitehead

I'd say it would be mainly Coalies up that way this time of year Pooks, Yeah, The Ground is Rough as a Badgers Armpits.

Rough in close but quite clean if you push them out a bit.

Whats a Bit?

About 50 or 60 yrds. Still some rough patches but pretty clean. Used to fish the area in the boat and you would be amazed at how close you are to the shore before snags started showing on the fish finder.

To be honest though, the fish are in the rough stuff.
