Hi Lads, I am hoping to get to Youghal next weekend for 2 sessions on Saturday. I am not from there I am about 2 half hours away. Would anyone who lives or knows the area be able to advise what the weed situation might be there. I can see there will be strong W or NW winds all week so could this have a negative impact on the fishing or bring a lot of weed into it?

Fishing very well with little no weed but rainfall is a problem. Peeler is the only bait fresh always better. Enjoy the trip.

I don't know about youghal but we have had a bit of snow in cork city today , would the sudden drop in temperature go against you I read somewhere that fish don't take the drop in temperature to well and may need a few days to adapt to the sudden drop and go off the feed.
if anyone has something else to add or a myth to bust for me please jump in, I'm wrong half the time the rest is guess work

Its blowing a storm down this way at the moment so I suspect that there will be a load of weed coming in with the tides over the next few days, not to mention a lot of fresh water coming down the Blackwater. The fresh water will probably push the fish out of the inner harbour/estuary area and the weed will likely be bad on the beaches. So you might want to reconsider your plans to fish Youghal this weekend.

Ok Frank thanks for your input I will have to talk to the buddys and see what we will do. Is there any other areas that might be sheltered from the weed do you know?

Fished Ferry Point last night for a couple of hours around LW before the current got to strong. Bagged 3 cod on crab. Met a few lads from Dublin you had been fishing there all day and they had bagged about 10 each using worm and mussels. Nice spot to fish but it was bloody freezin!!
