Hey
Note sure what this is about but I would be keen on identifying a few cod marks in the north west too...
The only place I know of that routinely throws up cod is Ballcastle beach in North Mayo at low water and at night. They can be quite small with the occasional decent fish and you can often be driven demented by shoals of coalfish and small Pollack.
Off charters I have had plenty in Clew Bay, but in deeper water and I know of no mark that produces them off the shore. I was told that there are some marks on the north side of Achill island that can, but its a monster trek across bog and down cliffs... you get the idea.
The other place that throws up big cod is in Northern Ireland, at night in big heavy swells and by pure coincidence near the other Ballycastle, but having seen and heard how its done, frankly, you would probably need your head examined.
We don't have the big estuaries and mud flats / crab havens they have down south, unless you know of one? Sligo harbour might be an option although I have heard nothing about it, bar that you can dig ragworm there.
All musings welcome!
