So shoot me, I was fishing carpets, all apologies for missing the word strand , I notice you didn't post any info, but took time to question me, at least I try to be helpful .
I find carpets better with easterly winds as the big chunk of land opposite acts as a giant weed blocker , I find the open beach a killer for weed 2 to 3 hours before high water and all fish caught last night came on crab and mussel 2 hours after high water and the bites stopped an hour approx before low water the rain didn't seem to make a difference

Most anglers last night were fishing the shelter of the harbour , on the waterford side there was a half dozen people alone fishing from the council depot and few more back up the Blackwater , only a handful in carpets as word going around was it was closed, I chances my arm it was open, Green park had a few anglers on there aswell saw three head lamps as I was passing

Youghal" beach" relatively weed free tonight despite a very cold stiff breeze from a west direction and fishing was slow enough apart from a few codling and whitting. As a person who knows PAT for a good few years I can say that he will always offer to help and advise people on any aspect of fishing as he a pure gentleman.
Theres no need to be so "sharp" as Pat did nothing wrong and was merely saying no other headlamps on view along the beach .No biggie on your behalf Dave for not reading Conors post correctly but please leave one of the gentlemen of irish angling alone and if I know Pat you can be sure he got plenty of fish

but he doesn't have to tell the world.

I apologise to Pat, but I would also be thought of by a lot of people as a gentleman and when out fishing I'm quick to lend a hand , make a rig for someone share bait , gift an item to another angler, I've just seen one bad comment to many on this site, I get quite a few PMS and Facebook messages asking for advice which I give, I don't get much advice in return, you don't me and you were fast to say I was Sharpe, once again I apologise to Pat and I believe I accepted his friend request yesterday on Facebook, I find info by hours of hard work, driving and walking and fishing at all states of the tide and in all weather , I fish with a group of anglers that show nothing but respect for the environment, other anglers and the well being of fish they catch and return, I have never abused or threatened another person or angler at any time online or onshore.
But I will not be ganged up on , you don't know me my friend because if you did you would know straight away I'm not a bully, but like all human beings I can be annoyed on occasion, I admire those that stuck for Pat and liked his comment friends should always be there to support.

Dave you are right I don't know you .All I was merely saying is I do know Pat and I and many others have nothing but respect for the man so when i see a comment that appeared a bit over the top from yourself of course i will defend my friend.Look im sure your a decent guy[that's not in question] but in future when a person is merely pointing out a fact go easy especially when you don't even know the chap .
For what its worth good on you for been so helpful with sharing any tips and knowledge you have gained through the proper hard slog of been passionate about angling[as a lot of bs around these days],im sure plenty have benefitted and are mighty greatful.Hopefully and more importantly the fishing will continue to be consistant for you and the rest of us.
Apologies if ive offended ,that wasn't my intention .
Tight lines,
Mike.

Holy crap...I haven't been on the site since I posted my comment above. I didn't mean to cause offence. My apologies Dave if I did. ....and to flounder5791. I was on the strand on Weds night with a buddy and we didn't see anyone else....which was a surprise. When I saw your comments I thought we some how missed you. Was beginning to think that me eyesight was definitely disimproving with old age, me buddy's aswell (his older than me).
Many thanks for sticking up for me Mike....not your first time.
To the fishing....there was a bit of weed on the beach which was a pain at time. We got there just as it got dark and mid-tide. For the first hour we had good fishing with about a dozen cod to 51cm. It tailed off then, but coming towards high tide we had a few doggies and one painted ray of 5lbs. All fish fell to crab.
I fished Green Park last night and it was wild. After an hour and half I packed in with only one cod for my troubles. A couple of lads outside me were more successful with a few cod and a fine ray of 8lbs. Hope that helps.
