hi all ive fished quite alot over the years in summer off donegal at marks in and around donegal bay but am going to try this winter to target cod. Teelin pier and the rocks behind it is one mark that sits out in my mind as having the potential to produce, has anyone any experience of targeting cod from the shore in donegal?

haven't fished much in the winter months, work and family life win out, but anytime i have tried i have managed whiting and wee and i mean wee coddling, not even big enough for fish fingers

think the rocks behind the pier might be better bet, last time we where there there was a problem with crossing the field to get to the rocks though.

Hi mate
I've had codling from piers around there but nothing of any great size. I've been told fishing into the rough stuff around St Johns Point turns up a few but I've never tried for em. It's on the list of things to do. I have tried on the bottom there in summer and it's a tackle graveyard.

Thanks for the replys guys fished off creevy pier on fri evening caught 3 nice flounder but was finding it hard to keep baits on the hooks with the amount of tiny coalies. If I manage to get a decent break in the weather teelin is where il be trying, will report here on what i catch.

Hi Redbob, fished that area over the last few months quite a bit as it just screams fish but to be honest it's very overrated. Best fish I managed after countless trips was a 5lb pollack. I spoke to a lad that works on one of the local charters and even the reports from the charter boats is less than impressive. I can't imagine the winter fishing is going to produce much apart from the odd whiting or small codling.
