Rod and reel

Hi

I'm looking to get involved with foreshore fishing, primarily beach fishing. Being a total beginner I was wondering if anyone could recommend a good rod and fixed reel combination. I don't want to spend a fortune as being a newcomer I realise that as I learn a little more about the sport my expectations and objectives may well change. Living 15 mins from Dungarvan I'm looking at this area in particular as well as Ardmore and Youghal...maybe Waterford.....so if anyone has any advice about marks etc it would be much appreciated.

The combo I'm using as a relative beginner is a 13ft penn rampage surf and shimano beastmaster 7000xsa, loaded with 15lb line.

The rod is designed for a basic overhead cast so good for beginners, but also good enough that you can continue to use it as you progress. It's roughly 200 euro for rod & reel, which is a bargain considering quality of tackle.

That's great, where did you buy the tackle? I believe there are two tackle shops in Dungarvan and I was going to call in next weekend, if they have the same equipment I'd like to support the local shop. Thanks again.

I got my gear in local tackle shops in dublin. It was v good value against online stores and no delivery cost & waiting etc.
