Hi all,
Some of you more experienced angler may answer me this question.
What wind direction/weather determines if a beach is going to be mildly weedy, very weedy or no weed at all, I beach fish mostly in certain kerry or wexford beaches.
It would aid me considerably when planning a trip if I knew that due to prevailing weather conditions I need not bother travel because the weed would make a particular area fishable or unfishable if you get my drift,
Many thanks in advance,
Beechtrawler.

viewtopic.php?f=1&t=35461&start=380in an ideal world we would be getting daily posts here
but in general if there is a southerly blow, all the south wexford beaches are gone for 3 days at least
you can also get used to fishing over the band of weed - if you have patience it can be rewarding for certain species - that like rough conditions

Many thanks corbyeire for your reply, nothing worse than arriving on a beach and having your rods bend over due to the proliferation of weed.
Would a south westerly/westerly blow have the same effect on the south facing wexford beaches or it is a simple case of direct onshore winds generating most weed problems, for example would a southwesterly wind bring more weed on kerry beaches..

In general' any wind above 15 knots blowing onshore will stir up weed.
Areas with offshore reefs are the worst affected.
