Was down the south beach last Saturday, landed my first Ray from a beach.
Using a two hook flapper, hooked him on a piece of bass fillet.
Had no scales with me can anyone tell me what weight you reckon it is.???
Very heavy fish to land didn't think the traces I made the night before would hold up.
Still well chuffed with myself

FairPlay! Was trying last week myself there but ended up with a Huss and no ray. Hard to say but I'd say around 6+ lb. although I'm open to correction on that

That's a large female Thornback. Definitely more than 6lbs. Double figure judging by the photos. Bass fillet for bait?

Thanks,
Let me mate, pick up the bait asked him to get whole mackrel in a fish mongers and he just gave him a bag of scraps.
Small piece of bass I cut up from the bag.
Goes to show when fish are feeding they can take any thing.
Seem to be a lot of small whiting we were catching as well.

We'll agree to disagree Shane. I'd call it 10 judging by the 1st photo.
