Wrasse or pollock...

Tue Jun 17, 2014 8:06 pm

Hi all, I need some help.

I help run a youth angling initiative in Tallaght Dublin and loads of them are mad into sea fishing. So far all we have done is coarse angling and mostly for carp, but a few of them asked me to bring them wrasse and pollock fishing.

Heres my problem, I know a few wrasse marks along some piers, but Iv never got a pollock there. Can anyone help with any spots... Cant be mad rock marks because of the youths.

Not asking for secret marks, just somewhere they have a chance to get pollock and wrasse in or around Dublin.

Here have a look. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Killinar ... e=bookmark

back of the west pier you'll get pollack but they are small. picked up loads on small feathers in close. Had goldsinney wrasse, corkwing wrasse, blennys, whiting, dabs, codling and sea scorpions in the last week. The slope on the back is safe enough for kids at high water as the slippy weed is covered up. rag on a float works well there.

Wicklow Pier is good for wrasse and pollock and plenty of other species and is also handy for kids

Ive seen 4lb pollock come out dun laoghaire on spinning rod in daytime. I was told of 10lb pollock taken der last summer.. was a night session doh but still der is decent pollock there to be had. Dun laoghaire just came to mind because its not far away from you and there is a chance of good sized fish there
