Hi all,
I'm down in Killorglin for the Kfest at the end of this month,I'm exhibiting my paintings, but I don't think I want to spend the evenings drowning in guinness, as nice as it sounds, so mornings/evenings I'm thinking fishing.....only problem - smack bang in the middle of bass ban. So what'd ppl suggest? I usually conger fish kells bay , or perhaps pollack along the coast there, I think I'd rather keep it mainly lures/soft lures , without stepping into bass territory...
cheers
Daire

Castlemaine for sea trout could be an alternative, very close to you there at Killorglin.

If your targeting sea trout be sure to have a licence in the back pocket. Most of the beaches in the area of killorglin throw up sea trout. Also theres a little pier that I used to fish when I lived down there years ago behind the church in killorglin that had plenty of fish on an evening flood tide. The far left side of kells also has a pier that produces Pollack , wrasse, garfish and macks in season to lures or floatfishing just be sure to keep your legs covered whilst walking through the gorse as that area is covered with ticks

Give Rossbeigh beach a try , in front of the car park at the entrance for Thornback Rays , have had Coalfish , Flounder and of course Dogfish here too , further up the beach I am told is good for Plaice but I have never caught any.
