On the east coast an east wind seems generally to have a negitive effect on fishing, how does this compare to south and west of the country? Anyone know??

The East wind would flatten the seas on the West coast and flat seas are not great for shore fishing except for a few particular species.

dont know where you got this idea from...
calm conditions would mean a lack of surf that might hinder bass fishing, maybe, but ive had ample fishing success and caught all species in flat calm conditons

had plenty of fish when the wind is from the east out in connamara, you will always find a mark facing east that will have some surf on it and on other marks with the east wind at your back you can cast out a bit more then normal and hit deeper ground

iT's not so much of an idea just after 30 or so years of angling you learn a thing or two.
