Hi all. Am thinking of treating myself to a new beach caster and reel. Have ye got any recommendations to a good combination for reliability. Cheers

It would help with reply's if you gave a general idea of the type of species you are after and a general location of the type of fishing grounds

Well said Donal we are not mind readers. Is it for flats in close or ray at distance? If you look up the search section you would get answers to your questions.

Not sure about beach rods i tend to get a rod and keep it till it falls apart. But for reels the penn 525 mag you cant go to far wrong.I pulled one from the shed the other day that i have had for years it was sitting in the shed the last two years.i never oiled it nothing , opened it put the other day to see what shape it was in and it was as solid as a rock great reel if your not big on the old service and for a multi easy to use.

Ive got a penn surfblaster at the moment and I have to say it would be hard to stray from penn. The 525 seems to get good reviews alrights. Have a few bits to work with now ....cheers

Im using a dawia 2 piece sea hunter with a aerlux shimano 7000 reel it does the trick for me with most types of fishing pier, rock, etc, its also light enough to hold while standing in the surf and has a very nice sensitive tip and is strong enough to land a few decent sized fish.

Thanks Dave 78. Havent gotten around to getting anything yet but need something like what ur saying. Something strong but yet sensitive enough to see those bites wat I'm missing with my own.
