Anybody know if shakespear or any other manufacturer do baitcasting reels that you use your right hand to reel in with?
I find it fairly arkward holding the rod in my weaker hand or is this somethig I will just have to get use to. I'm looking forward to the light tactic fishing and spinning of the summer allready! :) and I do kike doing it in comfort.
Thanks for any info.
your right buddy, I did mean left, oops

hi there
i believe what your looking for is a lefy , i know the whole thing is arse about face but if you want to hold with the right and peddle with the left its something like an ABU 6501 . All the abus with an 01 at the end of the model no are leftys eg 4601 , 5501 and 6501.
I bought a lefty thinking it would make life easier buy really it only confuses things esp when using other conventional right hand wind multipliers ...............maybe like me you would find it easier just t learn the new technique and forget about the left hand wind models

I'm seriously Left Handed and although I use my left hand to wind a fixed spool trout rod I'd never contemplate doing that with a beachcaster as I use the rods power to pull not the reel. That way my left hand holds the rod and I use a standard right handed reel. I only find trouble with reeling in fast - I could definately use my Left faster and more fluidly but any sort of fish on and my right arm would flag as it is so unused to working. At the end of the day go with what you find comfortable - not because you are X handed you must use X handed equipment.

As most people are right handed and usually have more power in the right arm, I would have thought that most people would wind the reel handle with their left hand??
So why is there so much choice of right hand wind reels??
It seems daft to me. Probably originated in the land of the daft, USA??
Answer to your question is yes, shakespeare do make RH wind multipliers, loads of them and no left hand wind that I know of.
As Budding Surfcaster says ABUs use numbers ending in 01 for LHW and 00 for RHW

col,
i'm a leftie also - i have a mixture of lh wind and rh wind reels.
My baitcaster is an Abu C4 6501 - handle is a bit small and it has levelwind - but it was ridiculously cheap on eBay compared to online tackle stores.

i have the abu 5501 c3.i`ve found it far easier to use than a right handed versions especially for the mini rods,i dont have too much trouble switching over to my usual beach reels which are all right handed.i`ve thought about changing them all to left handed but there isn`t enough choice out there to choose from.
