Hi David,
Welcome to the forum.
I have fished around Greenore myself on a few occasions, but with little success. Fishing around the harbour, you will find deep water, but with a wicked tide rip which will pull a 6oz grip lead off the bottom in no time. I thought there might be an opportunity for cod there, but alas not for me.
My friend did catch a flattie there a while back, and I think I did also on one occasion - to the right of the harbour where the stoney beach is. We have caught mackerel there too. Later on, there will be a chance of bass and sea trout in the bay there - these have been caught on German Sprat and on the fly.
I have also seen sea trout caught at ballaggan point round to the right of greenore.
The best spot for bass, seems to be at Carlingford in the area in front of the fire station. I have tried there myself, but I think we were too early. I do believe it has good potential though.
There are some nice beaches further round to the right near Templetown which have potential for flats.
I have a friend living up that way, and if he checks in to the forum, might get in touch. As for me, I'm stuck in the middle of Poland (which is forecast to be -3 all day today!), so I can't join you for a year or so.
If you click this link, you will find some more reports.
