Always worth a go.
Curraghbinny pier across on the other side of the river can produce a few fish. no need to cast more than 50ft. there is about 20-25ft of water in front of you,
Its at the edge of the channel so it can be busy during the day with pleasure craft so best fished into darkness

If you're interested in mulleting, was on that walk from Crosshaven back towards Carrigaline during the heatwave in the summer. About half a mile from the Crosshaven end for the next half mile towards Carrigaline I must have counted twenty or thirty mullet.

You'll get the odd flounder and dog from Crosshaven pier, much better option for you is to fish from Currabinny pier, usually an hour up to high water and a couple of hours of the drop Is best
You'll get whiting and dogs easily enough, flounder, and the very odd plaice, small gurnards and codling.
You'll always catch something there, my most unusual catch was 2 lobsters the same day.
