bass guides/ghillies

I was just wondering is there any bass guides/ghillies about for hire???
having caught my first bass earlier on in the year one lure but having blanked since, i was looking to get more into it as i was looking to take it up more now that my son is getting older too and to be able to share it with him as he gets older and it is a great pastime to have.
I am basically wondering is there any one to teach you the types of techniques for different lures actually in action for bass as i am still new to fishing with diving/surface/poppers/sp's lures.
I am in Limerick but fish all over clare/kerry. still havent got to cork but soon hopefully.
Am i grasping at straws????

JimH on here does bass workshops in a classroom. Their very good and he will go thru anything you want to know.

Another vote for Jim. There's a wealth of information on his blog, with tips n tactics etc

I have been lucky enough to fish with both Jim H and John Quinlan. Highly recommended. I genuinely learned a lot from both of them.

The money that is paid for a day with a guide what if you blank must the money still be paid.Seems like pressure on the guide to deliver or do they always come up with the goods.

Isn't expense a relative thing?
Personally speaking I would not consider €120 expensive if the service is great!

As previously said €120 a day is relative but it isn't very much to pay when you consider the years of experience and time put in to learn the watercraft and gain the knowledge to pass on.
People who want guides want to learn from someone who has put the time in to learn their craft or who will take them to marks likely to produce at a given time. The alternative is to put the time in yourself then you will find out you will be lucky enough to buy enough petrol or diesel to get you to the sea ten or twelve times for your €120

Guiding is much more than catching or simply going fishing. I know I'm still learning lots.

Could'nt agree more with this post,but these days a lot of people coming into the angling world expect to be nearly spoonfed as if its the norm.This isn't a dig at the o.p just a general observation ive experienced over the last few years.For what its worth if you want to improve at anything you surround yourself with the best and in this case a good guide will pass on info and knowledge that will stay with you forever and that's a bargin in todays world.

I would pay if I had the money.

I'm just lucky to have a few mates show me the ropes. Even though I knew a bit I never knew how much there was to know about bass fishing.

It's almost impossible to learn all as it's always updating. Lol.

But yeah I would pay it for to get that kind of knowledge embedded in my head

DB - spend as much time on near or at the water as possible. Something's never change and these things can be learned over time with hard work at the coast, they are the important things that ultimately will give you a true sense of the fishing, it will become very meaningful to you and your friends. You cannot find this anywhere else.

Make it your own, you will earn it but it will be yours to value.

I was lucky enough to be able to tramp around searching for bass marks locally both on foot and my bicycle as a teenager- in fact I'm still at it!
120 sounds good to me if you can gather knowledge from someone who has put in hours of hard graft over the years. On top of this, if you factor in the cost of fuel, bait and lost gear while blanking it seems like great value !

Im sure it would be great to hear what a guide has to say with the years of hard work they have put in but in these times a lot of people may not have that kind of money to spend.But there are some very good anglers on here who have the same passion if not more for fishing and all they ask for in return is a little common sense (well more like keep your big fat mouth shut).I myself think if i had the money i would spend it on a guide but for the peolpe who dont what do they do if they want to experience something like that.
