thanks to all who replied in the last post I put up
I need a new multiplier to suit the rod
must be able to deal with rough ground snags, have good line capacity,no level wind etc
please don't suggest the likes of the penn mags or diawa slosh's etc as I already have them
im opening my horizion and looking towards the Akios range or Abu,,,particulary the akios
cheers brian

the likes of akios or abu wouldnt really be for rough ground i thin but im open to correction......... more of a clean/mix ground reel in my opinion i have one of each and use them for clean/mix beaches only...... what u have mentioned are more for the rough stuff....... dunno bout the slosh but the 525 has an excellent retrieve rate and is a brute of a reel i love it..... im only giving my opinion others mite think differently on the topic but as i say im open to correction.......

I think I would have to agree with Shane, you will need to spend some serious money if you discard the 525's and slosh range for mixed to rough ground.
I have never used and of the Abu's but I have never seen many anglers using them in the rough places I fish andI have heard they cast very well but dont like it rough

I believe the Akios are based on the Abu's.

its just slightly smaller... The slosh thirty is very big for general beach work its more confined to heavy ground or light boat fishing or somethin like tope fishing from the shore i wouldn be going strapping it to my match rod to cast three hook flappers into the surf its too big and cumbersome for that ...

Yep just greater line capacity, they still have the centrifugal brakes but it gives you a chance of stopping that tope as it screams of seawards. I have used the 30 sha because i clicked on the wrong button on the veals catalogue. I wanted the 40 sha but i have no regrets and havent lost any fish through getting the smaller reel.

Forget either the Abu or Akios, you havevthe reels you want with the Slosh or Penn, it's a rough ground rod you need not that Tf Delta.

The new Sloshes are excellent and if you know what you're doing they'll throw a bait halfway to Holyhead. If you already own a 525 and an older Slosh, once they're in good condition, I wouldn't bother looking for anything else. On rough ground it's the rod that's going to do most of the work so I'd be concentrating on that more than the reel. Go along to shoreangler.co.uk and ask the North East and Scottish lads what they prefer. They'll stear you the right way.

The Abu 7000c are great for rough ground and there build quality is excellent

Just my tupence, The abu 7000 is a great reel but i would stick with the 525's, have had a couple of akios reels and they are more a clean ground reel
