I am finding that the leader knot that I know, a half hitch plus grinner I think it is called, is catching weed and jamming in the top eye causing me to stop reeling and has lost me a fish or two in the surf. Can anyone give any advice on a tidy leader knot least likely to snag weed?

all leader knots will snag weed your better of with a wider tip guide or walking back if you have a fish on

Tapered mainline, built in shockleader no knot.Just stay away from the grauvell tapered lines ,pure crap imo.

In the past I have heard of people creating a rugby ball shaped knot by using angling superglue with a view to allowing it to pass through the guides rather than snag against it. I do not think it would hep with the weed situation as the smaller clingy weed tends to stick and slide down the line until it reaches a point of resistance.

How much? And where do you buy all in one mainline and shock leader
Picked up a some of the Trubbucco tapered line in Southside angling. Yet to try it but seems very weak in the middel section while i was putting it on the spool.
The Blob Knot is the solution: small and strong - I use nothing else to connect the main line (even braid) to leaders. You don't believe me? Try it out for yourself or ask the casting pros from SCI. And for the weed situation? Slip a bit of shrink tubing over it. Neat and easy. Here a video:
Dan if you talk to your colmic dealer in kerry he should be able to get his hands on some colmic lurs tapered stuff.Failing that shimano beastmaster tapered line is very good imo just go for a decent diameter mainline ie .33mm .It is pricey but has the edge definitely when weed about.
