Fished Dunlaoighre for macks a few weeks ago, nothing, havent been out since.

Anyways, planning a little trip this Sunday, specifically looking for macks.

I took 100+ on tuesday off the end of dun laoire west. And everyone else got more. Get back down, the feathers with just silver foil on them seemed to work best for me

Do you really need to take a 100 plus in one session?

Does anyone remember seeing motorcycles down the pier lately ? I remember years ago being able to but don't know if that still possible. Google Maps shows it might still be possible.

With the pressure mackerel stocks are under at the moment and their importance in the food chain you may not need much bait as there may be very little left to fish for if the population crashes. Of course it's your choice to fish as you wish.

I know I said I took 100 but was actually me and a mate fishing so between us we took the above amount home yea and after two days fresh mackerel for the family dinner and the brother taking some for himself I am left with about 15 in the freezer which I will use as bait, less business for the commercial fisher and saves me paying €4.50 for a pack of 3 each time I go fishing.

Im sure I can make use of the 15 or so I have remaining. Id never take mackerel ive no use for, and wont be fishing for them again until I run out of what I have. I know about how much pressure fish stocks are under but unfortunately for every person that cares there is probably over 100000 that dont care and as long as world population keeps increasing things will never get better for fish.

Good that you will at least use them and not go after more just for the sake of it. But I still think that as indviduals we are responsible for what we remove from the environment and can try to lead by example. Regardless of the massive impact of commercial fishing and the rapidly expanding population as you have correctly pointed out.

Tight lines.

The Irish shore caught specimen weight, I thought, was 1.5 pounds. !!!! So great catch.

Prob not. I think on the east pier I saw a sign from the Harbour management regarding some sort of restrictions on push bikes.Let's not forget that the Council were considering banning angling completely a few years ago!!
