Sore Finger

Hi Guys,

I know this is a silly question and it's probably been asked before but I thought I'd run it by you anyway.
When casting, when I release the line, it often snaps against my middle finger.
After a while it can start to hurt, have a few small cuts from last time.

Is this just a result of bad technique?
Maybe I should just wear a pair of gloves?

Done a casting lesson recently and the guy recommended cutting off the tip of a marigold glove as a finger guard.
Havnt tried it yet but sounds like you would still have more contact with the feel of the line rather than a glove.

Alright for the glove or the stall.

But you're talking about the middle finger... is it the finger you're using when casting ?

Thanks for the advice chaps.

Using my index finger to hold the line while casting, how it manages to keep lashing against my middle finger is beyond me.
New to the sport so I'm sure it's something small I'm doing wrong.

Think I'll try out the marigold solution.
Won't look very cool with a big yellow finger but it might stop my finger wearing away to the bone! :P
