Good spots to not Blank?

Hi everyone, new poster so ill just give some background.
Been fishing on and off for years, tried everything and anything, sea, game and course.
I'd know a little about each but not a lot either. Wasn't introduced to fishing by my father, someone with experience etc just kinda found my way by reading books, magazines and the Internet.
Anyway the sea fishing bug has bitten again and I'm trying to bring along a few friends to get them into it. Obviously I'm well used to catching feck all myself but I'd just love for them to get something, anything at all just to feel that rod going and get that buzz of excitement.

We tried Ballyreen in Clare last weekend for Mackerel but missed the high tide completely. Last night I went to Kilteery Pier in Limerick myself. I'd never been so decided to give it ago, collected a few crabs, "softies" I think, couldn't find any peelers but it was my first time even looking for crabs and time was against me. Drew a blank as you can imagine but I had to leave again at 9.30pm so probably missed the best time.
Any suggestions of where to go? Any advice welcome. Based near Charleville so Foynes is nearest to me or even Fenit for an evening session. On the weekend then more than willing to do a 2hr drive to get somewhere good.

The Cashen estuary would not be far out of the way, it's in by Ballybunion golf course.
Fished best on the slacker tides with crab been the best bait

Hey man you should be able to avoid the blank at either Kilteery or Glin. Make sure you use Mackerel as bait and keep changing your baits every 10-15 mins due to crab. I use a pulley rig with 2 hooks (pennel). You should be able to get a doggie or ray..!

Perfect, thanks lads. Ill hit Kilteery again and maybe head out under the lighthouse. I read somewhere that, that was a good mark. Am I right in saying that around two hours before high tide and one after would be the time to go? Would I be wasting my time any other time? Also where's the handiest place to get some mackerel? Any Tacke shops down that way that are open in the evenings?

Just home from Foynes now. Got mackerel in SuperValu earlier today actually. We were there from 5.30 to 8.30 so tide was nearly all the way out. Kept changing the baits every 15 mins like you said Joebhoy. Crabs were well fed anyway!! We got 4 small flounder, probably bad for any series angler but we were delighted! First ever flatfish for both of us. Tricky getting the hook out of their small mouths though.
