NIGHT vs DAY

Hello

Of late i have been fishing late night H tides or early morning H tides and all i seam to be landing is dogs, Beets blanking anyway!
I am fishing mainly around the Wicklow area I tend to use rag, lug mack.
I know some of the marks I am fishing is throwing up some nice fish but When you don't even catch one little
whiting, dab ect cant help but think is it me.

Am i casting to far out ? (80 yards +)
is it the bait ?
or is it the late night and early morning H tides were the dogs come in under the cover of darkness ?
Do you think evening tides were there is light, better for non predator species :?: :?:

Cheers Lads

The smoothies dont seem to be around in any great numbers yet if its calm at night and your casting 80yds plus chances are you will catch a lot of dogs. i personally would rather fish during the day at the moment close in maybe when the bass ban and the smoothies arrive that will change but then again thats my personal opinion

That's pretty much optimum doggie conditions so other species might not get a chance at your bait. I might be wrong but do some flatties mainly fish by sight???????

if there are packs of dogfish about then its near impossible to avoid them unless you lure fish  we had a comp last night on wicklow north and i think about 160 dogfish where landed between 12 lads and prob 40 whiting a few dab and flounder ,a few gurnard and a few pup smoothies ,the dogs where on the prowl for the whole comp  so maybe its not that your doing anything wrong at all
do you never put a bait in close? flounder ,bass, ect can be in 12 inches of water ,even in daylight
