Tr Na Rossan Beach and rocks

Hey, I'm intending on fishing this beach and the rocks surrounding it in the next month or so.

Anyone any tips/stories they like to share?

I was just going to explore and hit it with everything I have in my tackle box. Looks beautiful and I can't wait to see what she has to offer!

hi tony. it's one of those beaches that can blow hot and cold from day to day, but at this time of year you can usually get some pretty decent flounder off it and the occasional sea trout.
best fished with 2 rods. one out at distance with a 1 up 1 down rig with plenty of bling baited with worms and tipped off with a sliver of mackerel. and the other in close in the suds with a 3 hook flapper and smaller hooks (say size 4) for a bit of scratching.
but if you are gonna target a trout remember to get sorted with a licence from the tackle hut on your way up to letterkenny. the guy in the shop will see you right

Went down to Tra na Rossan on Saturday, had been itching to fish it all week but it was totally unfishable.

So what I'm saying is, have a back-up location in mind becuase I think it's unlikely that the weed will shift in a week if the wind is as bad as usual around that end. If you keep driving up the road towards Melmore Head, there are beaches on the other side of the bay which will be sheltered. In saying that, I tried one of them when I couldn't get on Tra na Rossan on Saturday and it was a blank albeit sheltered. Where I tried was below the caravan park at Melmore, the one just off the road that the caravaners use. It isn't a mark as far as I know but there is supposed to be another beach, on that side, just before that called "The Murder Hole". I'm told it is a mark but I'd say it's a one rod and backpack job as it's very far off the main road. Let me know how you get on anyway.

Thanks for the advice lads. I was thinking of giving it a bash now and then again later in the summer to see what comes of it. If I find a few dabs or plaice i'll be happy.

The weed is a concern however :-s...I'll not be going for another 2 or 3 weeks.
