Mackerel Hauling Reel

Can anyone recommend a cheap enough strong FS Reel that will comfortably haul in 4 or 5 macks up the cliffs?
Price range up to E60..

Ive two reels for sale for under that price on the for sale section Ive had plenty of double figure pike on em so mackeral wouldnt be a prob .If you wanted something new id stick an extra 20 euro and get a penn/shimano beach reel.

you will get plenty of fixed spool reels for under €60 that will do a job for you but none will last very long. pulling anything up cliffs will put a big strain on the reel and the gears will wear down pretty quick. you may also damage the spindle as it will buckle.
a more expensive reel will last longer but will still wear down, and a lot quicker than fishing off beaches and rocks.
dont know anything about prestons reels but at least youd have a spare if one did start grinding or wobbling

Depending on where you fish for mackerel. Local tackle shops near the cliffs where there's abundance of macks have loads of cheap reels that does the job and lasts with proper care.

They would have the reels that match the height of the cliff near them and the number of macks to be taken at a time.

This is the one I am replacing. Had it for 3 seasons. Went to spool it up today and the retrieve is slipping. Takes a shed load of line to spool it to a level where you can get a decent cast and does weigh a lot which was an added con.

The Mitchell Riptide Alu 9000 looks like an animal of a reel that might do the job - bit above my cost expectation but if it will last > 3 or 4 summers it will pay for itself versus replacing less expensive ones
