it may do the job for some applications but you may be better purchasing a purpose built bass rod in the 1-3oz range to suit most of these situations?

My neighbour has an ancient telescopic carp rod from his days on the continent and he uses it in the sea off the shore. Not seen him take anything over a few small (very small) pollack on it but it looks fine.

Check the test curve on it, anything over 2 lbs should work for light sea fishing... should!

FWIW

I've got a 12ft - 3lbTC carp rod that I converted for lure chucking, it can throw 1oz to 3oz a mile. When your spinning, the longer your in the water the more chance of a fish. Its as light as a feather, you can chuck it with no effort all day long, had Pompano to about 6lb on it in Florida, wouldnt be without it.

i use a carp/pike 2.5 test rod for nearly all my bass fishing, both plugging and bait fishing. works grand and after spending many winters pulling in 6oz whiting on a big beachcaster with a 6ox grip lead. I even use it in the surf with a 2oz/3oz lead

some nice bass rods are available from the likes of shakespeare, leeda, mustad etc under £100
in the £100 range maybe something like the greys bze, conoflex flattie fanatic, daiwa supercast.....
over that come the likes of your zziplex and century and im sure a few other conoflex
i used to have a carp rod myself but found it a little undergunned as i think it was around 1 3/4 - 2lb test curve. presently use a flattie fanatic for most of the fishing you mentioned.
good luck
