lettermullen??

Hi Everyone

Looking for any advice/info I can get on fishing the above island as I'm heading there in early july...prefer lure/rock fishing but can take the heavier gear if I have to, or the fly rod. Any info appreciated, have searched forums for 'lettermullen' but blanked :|

Cheers
Stephen

youre in the right place for rock fishing, very little clean ground anywhere round that island
i went on a reccy before out there - not much access to the shore in places

best bet would be to travel very light and cover the ground, there are a few areas a bit deeper (if you look at osi map) rather than the usual boulders covered in weed, southern shore - most of the other bays and inlets look very shallow but that coudl be very different than on the ground

be mindful when crossing land if you have to!

Cheers for the reply :) given the shallow depth do you think some swff may be successful?

just found this :) will check it out on the osi

'On the south eastern corner of Gorumna Island on Greatman’s Bay there is a small quay at Trawbaun and bottom fishing is best in the harbour at high water when flounder and plaice can be expected. Spinning also produces pollack to 1.5kgs. From the Old Pier at Glenmore dogfish, bullhuss, flounders and occasional ray can be caught while bottom fishing. Spinning is best for mackerel'.

Thanks again.

those occasional ray are a species all onto themselves ;)
