What's happening?

Hey all, just curious to know if many are out fishing in this cold snap or like me just getting the gear ready for the next opportunity to get out?

Anyone been on the North coast beaches, Benone, Downhill etc. or the East coast Cushendun lately?

you can be sure there are a few gangs fishing,,,east wind generally tells a lot of lads to stay at home,,colder air for you to deal with and the fish dont tend to like it but that is not saying you wont get anything,,,they do feed but generally not as often as they would on a warmer wind,,met a lad today in the angling shop and he had a good few nipples on the river, but only connected with 1,,i think il brave it friday down here in mayo,,not long back from the tackle shop with the stock i need

I might go out for a few scratching sessions, but i'm going to hold back slightly until the water warms up at least a full degree. the bay of biscay doesn't look to bad. http://www.surf-forecast.com/current-ma ... mperatures

I don't mind the missus moaning at me for never being home on the weekends, as long as i'm actually catching fish ;D

hi tony

i'm out most weekends and theres plenty of guys out. theres a few bass on the north strands, theres a lot of sea trout also on mac strips. also theres pollock from some of the deeper east antrim rock marks to slow spun eels or jelly worms. The usual flatties on the beaches as well as a few coalies etc.
tried a few times for early rays but not having any luck yet.
its def worth being out at the min, not the warmest but still a few fish about to make it worth going. hope you get out soon.

Private Brian can you get directions to this river with all those 'nipples' I'm sure I'd manage to connect with at least two!

Thanks weedave...sounds like you are putting more effort in than me so fair play. I've fished Benone a couple of times this year so far including on session in temperatures of -4!! but only the 1 bass so far. Was in the kayak around Portmuck area last weekend. was like a summers day but alas no pollock...dunno what I'm playing at :-(

I've heard of ray being caught on the East Coast but I get the impression it's a closely guarded secret which is understandable I guess. Any info via PMs welcome though :-P

Donegal shore marks are going to my focus this year me thinks...

cheers
