Given the time of the year I would expect them to be heading off to spawn soon. Try again next Oct/Nov might be some around by then.

I'm not too sure... but there is a fair chance the fish shops around the country will have a few!!!

doubt it Paul, mostly disguised with a fake ID and plenty of S&V I'd say ;)

All joking aside, I read a report the other night and it opened my eyes. In 2003, 84% of the Celtic Sea cod were taken by the French, leaving very little for anyone else, they also took the vast majority of the haddock and whiting. I know that the report is about a time 10 years ago, but I would be very surprised if things had changed that much in the intervening time. You can all read it for yourselves here _http://www.inshore-ireland.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=436&Itemid=144

Talking about wrong ID on the fish I don't think we are as bad as the yanks yet, see here -http://www.nytimes.com/2012/12/11/science/earth/tests-call-mislabeled-fish-a-widespread-problem-in-new-york.html?_r=0
