There should be a fishing channel, it's not as if the interest isn't there. The amount of rubbish channels they have on Sky is a disgrace. :x

Livid,

Your right, who wants to watch Poker players. The Americans have loads of stuff that Sky could get for a song.

Maybe they think if they turn to many anglers ON, they will bugger off to the beach and turn the telly off hehehehe they would be right eh

Can you imagine a show where they take you around some of the tackle factories, like Zziplex, Cono-flex etc, that would be good, I think. A little thought on there part could come up with some real goodies.

Does anyone remember a fishing show a couple of years ago on Discovery H&L, it was two lads who were fishing along the West of Ireland, both game and sea. They were in direct competition with each other, they won points with the fish that they caught, these points allowed them to choose what gear they would be using the next day, this included camping equipment etc as they had to fend for themselves during the competition, this meant eating the fish that they caught.. I enjoyed it, a good show, they weren't exactly top anglers but it was good craic.

Got to love john wilson and the go fishing programmes they may be getting old but they still offer great advice and have to admire his enthusisasm for the sport.

Two words lads.... Henry Gilbey. :D

Darryl Grimason on Coast To Coast & Big 6 was good, But I've been well informed he generally doesn't have a clue. :?

Rex Hunt is my favourite, gives great advice, not sure about his to youngfellas though!.I catch an hour of Rex every weekday morning from 7 am to 8,then Matt Hayes for a half hour, then Screaming Reels, then it's off to work,a good way to start the day I think.

I really don't like foreign fishing programs to be honest, if i can't catch it here then i don't wanna know!! :D

One of the reasons I like Darryl Grimason is he doesn't pretend to be better than he is and brings in local anglers. I find Paul Wilson the best for style of presenting. John Wilson drives me nuts he has the most tedious voice and irratating laugh. Good on Henry Gilbey for taking risks and making a sea angling program but I can't say I like his style. THe program last night with him screaming around the place becuase he caught a few schoolies was way over the top. Later on John Hall didn't get a look in. The wexford article in sea angler put me right off him where he basicaly suggests the guy that was on last night came over here as some sort of expert while there wasn't a decent local angler in the place.

Apparantly Henry Fished Some place in Cork for Pollack.... Said He'd discovered it... Even though its called the Pollack Hole... lol

Sat Dec 03, 2005 1:45 pm

I know a few of the England team members and other guys over there who tell me Henry Gilbey is never off the phone asking "what will I use here" and where can I go for this or that" to hear him on one show saying as he was using bait elastic on some crab "I use miles of this stuff" he had enough on to keep a horse on the hook  still! its fishing and if its on I will watch it 8)

I would glady strangle Paul Mason, he gets on my tits every time I hear him

Listening to John Wilson banging on about Pike, that awful laugh, that nasty habit of repeating the last half of each sentence has me reaching for the remote. REACHING....for......the.....remote 8)

Reel Wars, thats the one. The snobby guy was on another thing where he was living in a cottage and had to live off the land, nothing brought in. Was a really good programme. He had to work on a neighbours farm for a joint of meat.....really good watching it. :)
