Snood advice

Sun Feb 10, 2013 1:20 pm

hi all, i need a little help with my snood. At the moment i am using 15lb amnesia, but the problem is it kinks after a couple of casts, which increases the intsances of the rig tangling up on the retrieve. Any advice how to avoid this or is there something better i could use as a snood length?

Thanks Lads.

The kinking is usually down near the hook mb3.

I depends what you're fishing for...... Whiting around this time of year can cause havoc with snoods, they tend to spin and pig tail the line which will kink it. Amnesia is about the best snood line there is..... I've tried lots and still come back to it. When it kinks try pulling it between you fingers the heat from the friction will straighten it out. Heavier line will stifle bait presentation and restrict movement of the bait!!

Agree with Paul - 15lb is probably more than enough for most fishing situations unless its rough ground.

Have the same problem when surf fishing using whole sandeel - I prefer not to mummify it in bait elastic so use two half hitches to secure the bait. This generally puts kinks in the line but it can usually be pulled straight. I'd normally change the snood at the end of every session as a result though.

Amnesia is great stuff, hard to beat it for price and quality for standard fishing situations.
