I would be quite familiar with Dunree, if you do a search under it there are several posts on the site I put on there in relation to it. If you drive through buncrana from the Derry side, turn left over the first bridge on the LHS you meet and just follow the signs for the fort. You will eventually arrive at a beaut of a bay with an old military fort on the LHS. If you walk around to the right, (its a bit of a trek) follow the little sheep path right to the end of the point. fishing back in towards the beach you can pick up all the flatties you want, flounder dabs and plaice mostly to legered fish baits. Coalies are available here too along with the ubiquitous LSDs! Its mostly clean ground aside from the odd ridge of rock. 20 yards away, on the other side of the promontory, fishing out to sea, you are fishing a rough ground mark with mackerel, pollack, LSDs, wrasse, rockling, conger etc available to you. The beauty of this mark is that it doesnt make much difference if there are howling gales, you can always find a sheltered side. Its one of my favourite spots with a cracking variety of fish on occasion. Only gripe it takes about 30 mins or so to walk out to the point if the tide is full, 20 mins or so if you can walk across the sand. It doesnt see many rods to be honest. hope that helps.

No reason why rays couldnt be caught there as the Swilly holds a good population of thornies. Caught them off the boat not too far from the point, on big dirty mackerel baits. Never actually fished for them from the shore though! It has been mooted there could be a possibility of summer tope there. Water is not overly deep fishing back in towards the bay but there is relatively deep water fishing the other side out to sea. I dont get to try Dunree too much anymore as Im based in cork now but let me know if your taking a trip there as I am up and down fairly regularly.
