i made up a rig from 30lb rig body and some snelled hooks ,they where given to me from a lidle fishing set  the hooks are size 10 red baitholders, they are very sharp and perfect for just a strip of mac or squid the line is about 6 lb bs i left the snood about 8 inches long but what a disaster  i did get a few whiting but what tangles ,anyone think of a way to fish them without them ending up in such a mess? i want to keep it a light as possible so no wire booms ?

How ya roger,

Sometimes fish that light but find theres no way of preventing the inevitable with gear that light. Even if the sea is flat, the retrieve alone can cause a mess.

I bring a load of spare snoods and just cut off the tangled one and tie on a new one. Its quicker than untangling them.

maybe its the line on them it seems very springy i might try a small lead shot near the hook :| or maybe try a different mono? i dare say their are better light mono lines

try using a piece of silicon tube around 10cm long (viking tackle is where i get it), tread this onto the snood before tying on the swivel and once you have the knot tied push it up over the knot and eye of swivel. i find it helps alot when i'm using lighter rigs, you can also use a longer piece of tube to make a mini boom.
works for me anyway.

a swivel above the lead can help as the lead bounces the bottom on retrieve. use the smallest components you can get hold of for rig bodies and have loads of spares snoods as mentioned. rig tube on rig body can to cover the tag ends on knots and can help too if you don't mind the look of it.
