Im not sure if this is the right section but its the only one i can see relevant.
So anyway i thought this would be a nice thread to get going. Basically whats the weirdest thing you have ever reeled in it can any thing from a weird fish to a tree what ever.
Ill start off so i was down fishing in monkstown last year when i went to reel in there was a huge weight on my rod i thought it was weed but as it surfaced infront of me i looked down and there it was a nice enough rod and reel. Took it home reel was no good but the rod was grand i actually use it the odd time for light estuary fishing as its a light rod, So what weird things have ye caught??

The top part of a set of dentures, encrusted with barnacles and seaweed while fishing from the Pier in Galway, about 10 years ago. If you lost it PM me.

I can go one better than a set of dentures, last year down in Youghal i pulled in a length of rope tied to a bone......

Wasnt too keen to cast back out to the same area in case i pulled in more bones.....
Previous to that ive caught the obligatory cormorants, cracking fight they give but by god they dont co-operate when you try untangle them from the hook and line.... Ive also caught a seagull whilst boat fishing, havent a clue how i managed that tho as there were no gulls near us when we dropped lines....
My most spectacular catch tho was back in Scotland, we were fishing a harbour which had been throwing up very good numbers of Coalies and the occasional Codling and Bass, i got an amazing hit on one of my rods, i struck in and the 'fish' was on, the lads with me were watching the line in the water and they were saying it was all over the place, i deffo had a good fish on, what it was tho was a bit of a mystery because it was being very erratic in the water, took me what seemed like an eternity to land it, i had to guide it round the harbour to a set of steps on the opposite side so that i could land it safely, imagine my shock when the 'fish' finally showed itself to be an otter!!!!!!! Forget about them being all cute and playful, this thing was like an incarnation of satan himself, poxy thing tried to rip my face off when i tried to untangle him from my line, he wasnt hooked but must of just swam by at the wrong moment, panicked then got tangled in the line.... took frikken ages to get the line off him, pleased to say neither of us were injured from the experience.....

Two of the strangest things I have reeled in was a very smooth rock with only one very small hole in it while fishing in Baltimore and the most unusual was a brass telescope I reeled in while fishing near Kilcoole

Steering wheel from a car with long seaweed's root atached to it. That thing was 40-50 years old, cought while fishing for conger in Little Kilary

I reeled in a bra on Killiney beach about 20 years ago, and a group of New Zealand rugby players stopped to have a look what was bending the rod so much, needless to say they needed to be picked up off the floor they were laughing so much

While fishing my first ever comp in Wexford I was struggling to keep up with the other lads (that hasn't changed!) when near the end I had a dead weight on my line. Thinking it was a good one if not two dog fish I battled away reeling in only to discover a bloody glove filled with stones on my hook. Needless to say I was sheepish about putting it back in.
